Mobile search on tablets and smart phones has overtaken desktop use in 2015 and Google has decided to make an update that could spell the end of Google Rankings for beauty websites who don’t take the necessary steps to make sure their website is mobile friendly.
From April 21st 2015, Google will use how mobile friendly a website is as a ranking signal.
“Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.”
Given that over 50% of searches are now mobile, losing your ranking that you may have built up over many months if not years could spell disaster.
However there are some simple changes you can make to offset the penalisation of your site. If you have a WordPress site then switching to a responsive theme makes all the difference.
